You go to the store and buy the TV and you get $3 in change. You give $1 to your mom and $1 to your dad to start repaying them and you keep the last $1 for yourself.
Later that night, you’re going back through your finances. You now owe your mom $49 and you owe your dad $49, for a total of $98. You have the one extra dollar that you kept, that’s $99. What happened to the other dollar?
